To mark the rite of college graduation I wanted to share the transformative journey of my previous four years with my hometown… show all who had help raise, teach, guide and lead me that more than a graduate, I’d become an activist artist who works to preserve culture through storytelling and visual art. I’d earned a degree in International Service and gained a deeper love for exploration and commitment to share the magic of adventure. So, I invited them, through my research, to a faraway land most have never seen. Through immersive art and stories, steeped in the magical realism of Colombia, I shared the culture of a people displaced from a home left long ago. I worked to do it in a way that would live forever in the hearts of all who shared the experience. And, in the process, I discovered that the creation of art that transports and transcends is how I’d like to answer my call to serve and build a better, more enlightened world.
